Para fazer uma flor com sobras de tecido(s)
To make a flower with fabric scraps (s)

Desenhar dois tamanhos de pétalas e recortar o tecido dez vezes cada tamanho; juntar direito contra direito e coser deixando uma abertura em baixo para virar as pétalas para o direito – temos cinco pétalas maiores + cinco pequenas (não é preciso coser as aberturas). Quanto maior forem as pétalas, maior será a flor, e lembrem-se que a costura rouba sempre um pouco à pétala… mas não é preciso grande perfeição nem simetrias!
Draw two sizes of petals and cut the fabric ten times each size; join right against right and sew leaving an opening underneath to turn the petals to the right – we have five larger petals + five small ones (no need to sew openings). The bigger the petals, the bigger the flower, but remember that the seam always steals a little from the petal … but you don’t need great perfection or symmetries!

Corta-se um círculo de feltro onde se distribuem as pétalas grandes, cosendo à máquina (neste caso em zig-zag porque o tecido esfiapava), fechando a abertura das pétalas; depois intercalam-se as pétalas pequenas, cosendo novamente à máquina.
A circle of felt is cut where the large petals are distributed, sewing by machine (in this case zigzag because the fabric frayed), closing the opening of the petals; Then the small petals are intercalated, sewing again with the machine.

E daqui em diante pode-se ir fazendo a ver televisão, a conversar – é para descontrair!

Com fio de sisal dobrado, para condizer com o tecido, fiz um longo, muito longo fio fazendo nós (knots) a intervalos curtos (±1cm) – os miúdos acham graça a fazer isto e facilmente arranjamos fio com nós (knots) para ter sempre à mão ;)
With folded sisal thread, to match the fabric, I made a long, very long thread making knots at short intervals (± 1cm) – kids find it fun to do this and easily get a good ball of thread always with knots to have at hand;)

Começar a debruar todas as pétalas com o fio de sisal, segurando só os nós (knots) com um ponto de cada lado do nó, sem esticar muito o fio de sisal – todas as imperfeições da costura ficam escondidas :) Penso que estiquei demais o fio, entre os nós (knots) fica bem um pequeno arco.
Start hemming all the petals with the sisal thread, holding only the knots with one point on each side of the knot, without stretching the sisal thread too much – all sewing imperfections are hidden :) I think I stretched the thread too much, between the knots a small bow looks good.

Se o tecido fosse mais fino ou delicado (tem sempre que ser um tecido relativamente encorpado) usaria uma meada de Mouliné 6 fios (ou outro algodão que houvesse em casa)  no tom do tecido.
If the fabric were thinner or more delicate (it always has to be a relatively full-bodied fabric) I would use a 6-thread Mouliné skein (or other cotton at home) in the tone of the fabric.

As duas camadas de pétalas devem ser fixas naqueles pontos de junção de todas as pétalas, grandes e pequenas.
The two layers of petals should be fixed at those junctions of all petals, large and small.

Continuando com o fio de sisal, fazer duas pequenas “meadas” e coser uma no sentido vertical e a outra na horizontal. E a flor poderia já ficar assim, ou então
Continuing with the sisal thread, make two small “skeins” and sew one vertically and the other horizontally. And the flower could already be like this, or 

enrolar mais fio de sisal entre dois dedos e coser e cortam-se os arcos ou não… É como acharem melhor!
wrap more sisal thread between two fingers and sew and cut the bows or not … It’s as you think best!
