Bainha aberta – Gradinha / Drawn thread – Overcast(ing) bar

Outra forma de bordar a bainha aberta é fazer uma gradinha. Comecei por fazer esta gradinha em escada (pode ser feita em zig-zag) e numa bainha aberta estreita e sem fazer qualquer ponto ajour para delimitar a barra (passo a passo em fotografia).

Another way to embroider drawn threads is doing overcasting. I began doing this overcast isolated bars* ( it can be done as a overcast bars in a zig-zag line*) in a narrow bar of drawn threads and without hem stitching the edges (step by step photos).

a linha de bordar sai no espaço entre os fios tirados – isto é importante para não torcer a grade
the embroidery thread comes up between the fabric threads – this is important not to distort the grid 

os fios vão-se enrolando com a linha de bordar,
the fabric threads are whipped  with embroidery thread,

no outro lado, não se pode saltar para para outro grupo de fios sem meter a linha de bordar entre o feixe anterior e os fios do tecido
on the other side the embroidery thread has to come up again between the former bunch and the fabric thread

e assim até ao fim da barra
and so till the bar end

et voilá!
