I wish I were near by… in Paris, from 11 to 14th February, at Grand Halle de la Villette.
From such supply of workshops, I could choose:
the Boutis technique, I met recently,
the Lunéville embroidery and its chain stitch technique (tambour embroidery?), which I think is the same as Beauvais stitch,
the three-dimensional hand embroidery technique (stumpwork?), by the authors of this book,
the ribbon embroidery technique,
and being there Iwould like to know about Glazig embroidery. And would try not missing the exhibits…
Oh, you and me both, Meri!! I was just looking over the same website the other day. It looks like it would be great fun! It’s fun to dream, isn’t it??!

let´s meet up and go february next year!
I was there 2005, and it was there that I first got inspired by needlework techniques other than cross stitch. lol! before L´aguille en fête, I was only doing cross stitch. It was a big big event, one day is not enough! lots of things to see and buy (€€€€!) I met Mireille there (japanese embroidery france) and the beadworks from the film “Les Brodeuses” were on exhibit. L´ecole Lesage were there too with their tambourworks. Books, books, books! threads, threads, threads! it was a needleworker´s dreamland.
I took some photos before: http://home-and-garden.webshots.com/album/315262929OMxWjX

Is it me or France and the US are the only places with regular big events like that? I only know one big craft fair here – which I visited last year and I must say, it was not what I expected. There are two patchwork events here, too, but very badly organized. I see in american blogs that some places have monthly craft fairs – how cool is that??
Do you have that in Portugal, Méri?
I’ll put L’aiguille en fête in my life goals FOR SURE.

Samanta I think Australia has lots of stitching and handmade fairs – Sydney, Melbourn and more – along the year. Here we haven’t, unhappily…

O mano alinha, claro!
Pensa nisso.

I would love to go to this exhibit too! I’ve read about it on Facile de Cecile’s blog…
