Natal… Christmas…

Neste Natal tivemos muita sorte!

A semana do Natal foi passada, em Portugal, debaixo de grandes tempestades, ventos fortes e chuvas torrenciais. Muita gente ficou com as suas casas alagadas e mesmo destruídas. Uma região passou o Natal sem electricidade.

Lá, no campo onde sempre nos reunimos, a semana começou mal. Todo o dia de segunda feira estivemos debaixo de chuva torrencial, vento forte e trovoadas. A meio da tarde caiu um raio, tão perto que parecia ter rebentado dentro de casa. E ficámos sem luz.

Só depois verificámos que um interruptor tinha rebentado mesmo junto do contador eléctrico e a caixa de ligação do telefone, na parede, estava rebentada e a parede chamuscada (e, claro, o modem desfeito). Uma sorte não estar ninguém ao telefone, ou na entrada, ou as crianças não andarem às escondidinhas – o cantinho do telefone é sitio priviligiado…

O pedido de ajuda local foi prontamente atendido e voltámos a ter luz. Várias lâmpadas e interruptores tiveram de ser substituídos, mas o disjuntor eléctrico funcionou e protegeu mesmo todos os aparelhos ligados. Só ficámos sem telefone e internet!

Nesse mesmo dia, à noite, estava a entrar água na sala de jantar. E a chuva continuava torrencial ! E na terça feira a casa começava a encher! Mais uma vez a ajuda local nos assegurou que logo de manhã estariam lá para ver o que se passava. Para nossa sorte a chuva não parou mas a ventania acalmou e a trovoada foi para longe. No sótão já não entrava água e os pingos na sala foram diminuindo. Na manhã seguinte fez-se a limpeza de muita folha acumulada.

Nos dias seguintes o mau tempo continuou, mas não houve mais estragos.

Mas foi muita adrenalina para os Seniores!!!

This Christmas we were too lucky!

In Portugal the Christmas week was spent under great storms, very strong gale and torrential rains. Many people saw their houses waterlogged and even ruined. One region remained without energy for several days.

There, in the country where at Christmas we gather all the family, the week began wrong. All Monday we were under torrential rain, storm and strong gale. When it was becoming dark a thunderbolt fell so nearer that seemed it was inside the house. And we stayed without energy.

Only some time later we saw a broken switch just near the counter and the phone box on the wall had exploded (so did the modem). So lucky nobody was on the phone or passing by, or kids playing around – the phone corner is so good to hide…

The local request for help was promptly attended and we got back the energy. Several lamps and switches were broken but the electric disconnector worked and protected all the connected equipments like tv or pc. We only remained without phone and internet!

At night of this same day it began entering water in the dining room by the ceiling. And rain went on pouring! And Tuesday the house would begun filling! Once more the local help assured us early next morning would be there to repair the roof. Happily despite the rain went on the wind wasn’t so strong that night. In the attic the water was no more entering and the drops in the dining room were decreasing. Next morning the roof was cleaned – many accrued leaves and lots of water!

Following days the elements went on but no more damages.

 

But it was too much adrenalin for the Seniors!!!
