areias /sands

areia is the Portuguese word for sand and the s is the letter for plural like in English; so here is the recipe for

Sands
150gr butter / 150gr manteiga
50gr lard / 50gr banha
320gr flour / 320gr farinha
120gr sugar / 120gr açucar

Put the flour on the kitchen bench (in preference marble bench) and mix with the sugar; make a hole in the center and add the lard and butter; mix well everything with hands and leave the dough resting in cold (so the marble…); grease a tray, powder with a little bit of flour and begin making little balls and put them on the tray. The oven must be already hot – it takes about 20 minutes to cook. As soon as you take off from oven pass them in sugar. It’s done! Easy and soooo good.

(i like them a little brown, ie, well cooked but many people prefer them pale)

Amasse bem e deixe repousar a massa no frio.
